Dear friends,

It's the weekend and Ara is back from his business trip...double the happiness! We spent the morning lazing on the beach, talking about our week, building sand castles and giving lots of hugs and kisses to our little girl. Alique was beyond happy to have her dad back and she requested many, many twirls on the sand to make up for lost time ;). Watching these two play together really makes me count my blessings. I am a lucky girl.

Touching back on my door dilemma, here are a few doors that are inspiring me lately. I love the soft hue of the teal, the vibrant touch of tangerine, navy is always classic and what girl wouldn't love a fuchsia door? It might take a little coaxing with Ara though...

a trip to the aquarium.

My best friend and I took Alique on a girls trip to the Aquarium of the Pacific yesterday. I don't think I've ever seen Alique happier. This girl loves her fish...and penguins...and sea otters. I don't think her excitement level ever dropped below a 10 the entire four hours we were there. It was a blast! But I think I was more enamored with the awe and elation on her face more than with any of the amazing creatures in the aquarium. There's nothing better than experiencing something so spectacular than with a two-year-old who is seeing it all for the first time. Just one of the endless joys of being a parent. It really only gets better and better...

home remodel: door dilemmas.

I've reached the point in the remodeling process where I've had enough. After this is all done, I don't want to pick out paint colors or visit a tile store for a VERY long time. That being said, we've decided to change the color of our front door. We were really excited about this yellow color at first and then we slowly started hating it. Now, every time we look at it makes us think of paint primer. 

So, we're back to square one. We're thinking something with more of a pop...more zing! So, friends, I'd love your help. If this were your door, what color would you paint it?

Dear friends,

I'm so so sorry for the static noise around here! Life has been so super hectic and fun and tiring lately that when I have a few minutes of down time, the last thing I want to do is get on the computer, you know? Just a little update: we're still here at my parents house but are on schedule to move in to the new house in three weeks! As excited as I am and as beautifully our home turned out it makes me a little sad to leave here. It's been so nice to not worry about cooking, cleaning or finding a babysitter. These last two months feel like we've been on vacation and I will forever be grateful for my parents' generosity.

As for this weekend, Ara and I are going wine tasting on Sunday. I'm so excited to spend some quality time with the hubs, drink good wine and take in the beauty of the vineyards.

I promise to be back on Monday with regular posts and lots of photos!

Our days have been full and busy lately, which is usually how I like it but with a breather here and there, of course :). Having my parents as our temporary live-in babysitters has opened up a world of opportunity for Ara and I. We've  been frequenting the movie theaters, visiting restaurants that I'd NEVER take Alique to (hello, Gjelina!), and getting in lots of quality time. I think we're getting a little too comfortable in this situation because before we know it we'll be moving into our new house and back to our trusty spots on the sofa on Saturday nights. No more galavanting around town with as free as bird. Oh well. Until then, I plan to get out and enjoy the outside world for as long as I can.
